| Description | The Royal Society has this year awarded their Copley Medal to the Ambassador's distinguished countryman, Professor Marcellin Berthelot, for his brilliant services to Chemical science. The President and Council feel therefore that there are special grounds for His Excellency to attend the Anniversary Meeting on 30 November at which the medals will be presented. As Professor Berthelot is unable to attend it is hoped the Ambassador will receive the medal on Haeckel's behalf. |
