DescriptionRix encloses a cheque for 100 pounds voted for by the Council of the Royal Society in July to be devoted exclusively to the part of the fund intended as an 'acknowledgement of the indebtedness of the people of this country to the Institut Pasteur'. He further encloses cheques amounting to 30 pounds and 16 shillings from Fellows of the Society in response to the appeal on behalf of the Pasteur Institute by Mansion House, and a list of the names of the donors and any specific subjects to which they are to be applied.

The donors listed are Henry Martyn Jeffery, John Fletcher Moulton, Sir William Roberts, Mr Francis Darwin, Lord Rosse [Laurence Parsons], General Edward Robert Festing, Mr Henry Tibbats Stainton, Dr John Russell Reynolds, and Mr Osbert Salvin.
