TitleCopy letter from [John William Strutt] Lord Rayleigh, to Dr John Denis Macdonald, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date21 November 1889
Description'Dear Sir,
The referee appointed by the Committee of Papers to report upon your proposed communication to the Society is of opinion that it would not be desirable to publish it in the Proceedings ['Proceedings of the Royal Society']. Probably under these circumstances you would wish to withdraw the paper which can be done at this stage. If you will send a note to that effect to Mr Rix the MS. [manuscript] will be returned.
(signed) Rayleigh
