Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Professor Joseph Larmor, Secretary, Royal Society |
Date | 7 October 1905 |
Description | Lord Rayleigh [John William Strutt] has reported favourably on Professor R Maclaurin's paper 'On Newton's Rings formed by Metallic Reflections', but states his recommendations are founded on a cursory examination only.
Has received a favorable report from Mr Mathews on Mr Whitehead's paper 'Mathematical Concepts of the Material World'. Mr Kempe, whom Larmor suggested as a second referee, says he is very busy and would rather not take this paper if anyone else can be found. The Treasurer [A B Kempe] certainly thinks the paper would be referred to Bertrand Russell if he were a Fellow.
Asks if both these matters should be referred to the Chairman of the Mathematics Committee. |
