Description | In reply to Brooke's letter of 15 October, the only mode of investigation which the Royal Society undertakes to apply to the discoveries of individuals is that of considering whether or not any communication on the work in question, duly made by a Fellow, should be read at a meeting and published by the Society. It is a rule of the Society never to give its opinion as a body upon any subject, either or nature or art, that comes before it. If the Fellow to whom Brooke refers in his letter will communicate Brooke's work to the Society, it will be considered and reported upon by a Committee as to its suitability for acceptance and publication. |
