Description | Geikie explains that Sir George Darwin submitted his remarks on the tidal observations of the "Discovery" and they were sent to the printer, with Darwin having corrected the proof. They cannot be printed until some previous sections of the report have been cleared away.
He cannot find a duplicate proof after insertion of Darwin's figures, but he encloses an uncorrected copy of the paper before Darwin passed it to the printers, along with tracings of the diagrams that were inserted. Geikie is uncertain whether Field is referring to the tide diagrams, but these are all they have. Darwin had submitted a set of tide registers and some manuscripts, about which he stated uncertainty about whether they belonged to the Admiralty, and Geikie forwards them all on to Field, and asks that he send acknowledgement should he retain them. |
