Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to William Botting Hemsley, Fellow of the Royal Society |
Date | 30 April 1907 |
Description | Harrison is unable, in comparing the originals to the proofs, to find grounds for Hemsley complaint about the two figures in his paper on Julianiaceae, as the tone of the originals appears to be faithfully reproduced, allowing for a slight darkening produced by the half tone process. The tone over his originals could have been removed if he'd made a note to that effect on his drawings, but it cannot be done now without preparing new blocks which would cost the Royal Society, unless Hemsley is prepared to pay himself.
He may prefer to let the blocks stand, and if so, they can instruct the printer to print them as light as possible. He will also warn the lithographers to do the same. The paper will go for revision, and he will receive a new proof in the next week or two. |
