Title | Copy letter from Archibald Geikie, to Admiral Arthur Mostyn Field, [Fellow of the Royal Society] |
Date | 1 May 1907 |
Description | Geikie reports that Commander [Ettrick William] Creak was peturbed by the printed notice of the new compass, which is in type for the catalogue of the Royal Society Soirée next week, and he forwards a copy of the document, written at Geikie's bequest, in which he lists what he would like added or altered, together with a proof of what they have received from Commander Chetwynd.
Geikie asks if Field will show the amended notice to Chetwynd. He notes that they do not want to cause controversy, and asks if Field can intervene and ensure both sides receive a fair deal. They do not want to print anything in the catalogue that would cause annoyance, especially to a Fellow of the Society. He asks that they return the adjusted catalogue the next day, as it has to go to press in the next few days. |
