In reply to your enquiry, the Committee appointed to prepare the Congratulatory Address to Sir Joseph Hooker consists of yourself, Sir Archibald Geikie, Prof. [Professor Sydney John] Hickson, Prof. [Professor Edwin] Ray Lankester, and Prof. [Professor Albert Charles] Seward. The date of his ^Sir J Hooker's^ birth, according to "Who's Who", is June 30, 1817.
