TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Sir William Macewen, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date31 May 1907
DescriptionAs requested, Harrison returns the proof of Macewen's paper for Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society. He confirms that the printer wants silver prints on burnished paper, and expresses regret that Macewen does not agree that the proof figure is satisfactory. They are unlikely to achieve the best results when such figures are printed as text blocks on ordinary paper, but Harrison had hoped the result would be enough to show all essential elements.

Harrison advises that the safest course would be for Macewen to return the proof and original of the figure, along with any criticisms and suggestions, and they will investigate what improvements they might make. Due to the high number of figures they must carefully test the method and results first.
