Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Professor Albert Charles Seward, Chairman of the Botany Sectional Committee |
Date | 11 July 1907 |
Description | Harrison explains that both referees, Professor Sydney Howard Vines and Professor Frederick Frost Blackman, for Alfred James Ewart's paper on 'The ascent of water in trees', have recommended it for publication in Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society. Vines has explained that while it does not solve the problem, he recommends it in light of the publication of Ewart's previous paper, and because it represents a contribution to the solution with regard to the data collected.
Both referees agree that all the illustrations should be produced. The glass negatives sent by Ewart were badly broken in transit, but he has been asked to submit prints for reproduction. Harrison asks if Seward is willing, on the basis of the reports, to authorise publication under Standing Order 43. |
