Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison to Sir William [Henry Mahoney] Christie KCB, FRS |
Date | 7 May 1909 |
Description | 'Dear Sir William, The authorities here are agreed that we ought to have the hourly time signal from Greenwich in the Royal Society, and when it was last discussed the President and others expressed the view that considering the close relations of the Royal Society with, and the gratuitous services it renders to, the Government, we have a claim for obtaining this convenience without cost. Can you kindly put me on the right track for securing this privilege? the most convenient form of arranging it for the Society generally would be to have the clock in the meeting room synchronised electrically but I have no knowledge as to how this is arranged.' |
