| Description | 'Dear Sir,
Mr J E Littlewood, the author of the paper on "Bessel's functions of large argument and index" which was sent to you on May 10th last as referee, has written to the Royal Society to ask for his Manuscript to be returned to him for revision, in consequence of Sir Joseph Larmor having mentioned your criticisms of the paper to Professor Lamb, the Communicator, who has advised the author to adopt this course. Mr Littlewood's paper is still in your hands as referee, and I shall therefore be very greatly obliged if you will return it to the Royal Society, with your report, as soon as possible, so that the Manuscript may be returned to the author for revision.' |
