Description | Larmor is directed by the President of the Royal Society to acknowledge the receipt of The Secretary of State's letter containing the information that His Majesty the King will receive the deputation from the Royal Society to present their address on Thursday, June 9 at St James' Palace. The deputation will be headed by Sir Archibald Geikie, President of the Royal Society and will include not more that nine members, viz:- Sir Archibald Geikie, KCB, President, Mr A [Alfred] B [Bray] Kempe, Treasurer [of the Royal Society], Sir Joseph Larmor, Secretary [of the Royal Society], Dr J [John] Rose Bradford, Secretary [of the Royal Society], Sir William Crookes, Foreign Secretary [of the Royal Society], Lord Rayleigh, OM, Past President [of the Royal Society, Sir Andrew Nobles, Bart, KCB, Vice-President [of the Royal Society]. Robert William Frederick Harrison, Assistant Secretary, will also be there and will carry the mace. As mentioned in Archibald Geikie's letter, the deputation propose to take with them the Charter Book, in case His Majesty may signify his intention to become patron of the Society and inscribe his name in that connection. |
