Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison to Professor A [Arthur] Dendy FRS |
Date | 19 March 1912 |
Description | 'The paper by O'Donoghue on "The circulatory system of the common grass snake, Tropidonotus natrix" which you communicated in January has been sent provisionally to two referees for opinions. The opinions differ and I have been in consultation with the Chairman of the Sectional Committee as to the best course to take. He is clearly in agreement with on of the referees in thinking the paper below the standard of originality which should mark the Society's publications, and I am bound to say I take the same view. Since the paper has not been read, it is open to you to withdraw it, in which case it would be regarded as not having been communicated to the Society at all; and in the circumstances I think that would be the easiest way out of the situation. If you adopt this suggestion and will send word to that effect either to me or to the Assistant Secretary, the paper shall be returned to you. Otherwise it must await the decision of the Sectional Committee.' |
