Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison to A [Alfred[ J [John] Jukes FRS |
Date | 29 November 1912 |
Description | 'Your paper on the Chalk Pebbles from the Floor of the English Channel has received very careful examination and has been considered by the Sectional Committee for Geology, which body, I regret to have to report, does not think it of sufficient importance to justify its publication by the Royal Society, although it is a very careful and interesting piece of work. In these circumstances it is open to you to withdraw the paper since it has not been read before the Society; otherwise the opinion of the Sectional Committee will be reported to Council who will in all probability order the paper to be deposited in the archives, where is will remain the property of the Society. In the event, however, of your electing to withdraw it, all that is necessary is that you should express that desire, and give and undertaking in writing that the paper is to be regarded as not having been communicated to the Society at all.' |
