Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to [Silvanus Phillips] Thompson, Fellow of the Royal Society |
Date | 25 June 1913 |
Description | The enclosed letter [no enclosures] came this morning and Professor [Arthur] Schuster thinks it should be referred to Thompson to consider when he looks into the way the work of the Catalogue is being done. It refers to an instruction lately sent to the Cambridge Press, on Schuster's authority, at the request of McLeod, to print a dash or stroke against each paper following on under one author's name in place of the numbers which it has been decided to abandon.
At the time the request was made Harrison does not think Schuster was informed that composition had already gone on without either numbers or strokes, and that insertion of the latter would involve resetting. It is being left to Thompson to consider whether it is worthwhile incurring the additional expense.
Sending the draft minutes of yesterday's meeting and shall be glad to have them back amended or approved. |
