Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Dr [Charles Herbert] Lees, Fellow of the Royal Society |
Date | 18 July 1913 |
Description | Thanks him for his note and for showing the letter to Dr Travers. Harrison can suggest nothing to add. Sir William [de Wiveleslie] Abney is very unwilling to adopt the suggestions made by Professor Poynting for the omission of certain parts of his and Watson's paper. As they were only suggestions and not conditions, Harrison supposes that it may be marked for 'Proceedings [of the Royal Society]'.
A report has come in from Professor Hopkinson on Mallock's paper. It is being sent herewith [no enclosures]. Having in mind Mr Boys' remarks on the paper in his letter to Professor [Arthur] Schuster, Lees will probably hesitate to do anything without the Committee, but he may think it desirable to send the criticisms to the author to give him a chance of withdrawing the paper. |
