| Description | Has only just noticed in the printed accounts that the statement of the Scientific Relief Fund is not strictly correct. The temporarily invested income, which stood for a number of years, according to their figure, at £822.17.4, has been increased by the addition of the £100 bequeathed to the fund by Sir Joseph Hooker without any conditions as to its being treated as capital; and by a definite resolution of the Committee and Council this sum was added to the temporarily invested income and was invested in £126 G N R three percent stock.
In the accounts it appears to have been merged in that stock standing as capital and Harrison thinks this ought to be put right in the next accounts. He cannot reconcile the figures to justify Keen's figure of £822.17.4. There must be a sum of about £16.10 of the invested income buried in one of the stocks belonging to the capital, and Harrison would like to have a precise statement of these figures. |
