Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Professor [Ernest William] MacBride, Fellow of the Royal Society |
Date | 3 July 1914 |
Description | A promised yesterday, Harrison is sending the minute of Council of 1910 relating to the surplus of the Darwin Fund. The only question in Harrison's mind is a technical one as to how far the resolution of Council of 1910 confers the initiative on the two Committees; but considering that the Council has done nothing itself in four years, the initiative must come from somewhere, and the expression 'on the advice of the Committees' does not seem to preclude that advice being spontaneous.
He will see that the two Committees have to meet jointly to make recommendations to the Council, and in the meantime Sir Francis Darwin will no doubt be prepared with some proposals. By the end of October the balance available for expenditure under these resolutions will probably be between £500 and £550. |
