| Description | Has sent the draft minutes of his meeting of Monday to be set up in type as it will be easier for Bate to consider them in that form. Shall be glad to have them back as soon as possible as they need to be send around to the whole Committee for approval, in consequence of there having been no quorum at the meeting.
Unfortunately, Dr Hopkins' reports on the two papers by Cammidge and Howard came in the day after Hardy's meeting. Both are definitely hostile to publication on the ground that the experimental evidence is insufficient to justify the conclusions, and the Secretary's note upon them is that withdrawal should be suggested.
Under the new Standing Orders, the procedure with regard to withdrawal is somewhat different to what it used to be, and one of the Committees suggested that the suggestion of withdrawal should not come from the office. Does not know whether Hardy would care to write to Dr Garrod privately or simply let the papers wait for the Committee after the holidays.
Hardy did not finish marking those paragraphs of Professor [Arthur] Schuster's criticisms of Macdonald's paper, which were considered suitable to send to the author. |
