Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to A V Hill |
Date | 23 July 1914 |
Description | Thanks him for his letters of 21 July and yesterday. His account of expenditure incurred and projected comes so well within the limits that he need not be troubled with it at present, but his statement will be kept with the Committee documents. The Committee at their last meeting expressed a definite wish that anything which Hill contemplates in the way of serious expenditure such as the purchase od an expensive piece of apparatus should receive their previous sanction.
Parsons acts as the scientific secretary to the Committee, but it is a Committee of the Royal Society, and any communications relating to the business part of the enquiry should be sent to Harrison. Regarding Hill's desire to visit glassworks, Harrison's recollection of what was stated at the Committee is that Sir William Crookes had already made the determinations at the glassworks which he proposes, and the Committee thought it would be unnecessary for him to repeat the visits. The matter was left for the President to look into.
Crookes says he has written to Hill on the matter. |
