Title | Copy letter from Sir James Hopwood Jeans, FRS, Secretary of the Royal Society; to Sir Richard [Tetley] Glazebrook, FRS, KCB |
Date | 12 February 1920 |
Description | Advises both referee reports for the paper by WG Duffield, TH Burnham and AH Davies on 'The pressure upon the poles of metallic arcs, including alloys and composite arcs,' suggest publication. However, [Sir Joseph Ernest] Petavel, FRS, suggests bridging or eliminating the tables and bringing the paper down to the required length for the 'Proceedings of the Royal Society,' and Lees argues that it does not require both the tables of observations and the diagrams on which the observations are plotted. He thinks the tables could be left out entirely or drastically reduced. Sir James Hopwood Jeans, FRS, believes that the tables should be cut out entirely, or close to entirely, and the paper reduced to the length required for the 'Proceedings of the Royal Society.' Asks if he should write to this effect to the communicator OW [Owen Willan] Richardson, FRS, and if the author agrees to the changes, if he should then proceed under Standing Order 43. |
