TitleCopy letter from James Hopwood Jeans, Secretary of the Royal Society; to Mr. H.M Close, C/o The Returned Soldier Club, Auckland, New Zealand
Date19 March 1924
DescriptionStates that Mr H.M Close's note on the Morley-Michelson experiment and James Hopwood Jeans disagrees with Close's interpretation, in that although it gives the observed result, is not consistent, either with the physical basis of the old theory, or with the basis suggested by the new theory of relativity. The letter gives details of the theories and mentions the Doppler Effect, Right's criticisms and elements affecting the velocity of light. Ends by stating that Close's letter will be made accessible to any Fellow interested. [This letter does not seem to be in possession of the Royal Society any more]
