Title | Copy letter from James Hopwood Jeans, Secretary of the Royal Society; to Prof. [Sydney] Chapman |
Date | 25 June 1924 |
Description | Informs Chapman on 4 matters. 1: Gives thanks for the report on the paper 'Perturbations of harmonic tidal constants', by Doodson, which will now be published. 2: That Charles Darwin has reported adversely to the paper 'Electrodynamics of the Bohr Atom' by D. N. Mallik, and that Chapman may need to look at it if Larmor does not withdraw it. 3: A similar case with Lamb reporting adversely to the paper 'The vibrations of a stretched membrane of non-uniform surface density' by E.L. Ince. 4: States that a new paper has been sent to [Horace] Lamb [Chairman of the Mathematics Committee], 'Elastic waves at the surface of separation of the two solids', by R. Stoneley, communicated by H.F. Baker. Asks if it should be published straight away following a favourable report. |
