Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Sir John Evans |
Date | 21 March 1893 |
Description | Harvey & Gore inform Rix that the snuff box was given by Newton to Miss Clavering and Miss Clavering married into the family of their client. They have nothing in writing to show this. The fist link appears to Rix to be the most doubtful. Rix asks to know if Evans is thinking at all of purchasing the box, if not Rix may as well give Harvey & Gore such information about the arms as they have gathered.
Rix has answered the enclosed note from Glaisher [not attached] to the affect that access to the Newton manuscript can only be obtained by special permission of the Officers. Asks to know whether Mr [Walter William Rouse] Ball may use the manuscript or whether the matter must be signed over for the permission of Council.
The accompanying letter and cheque from Sir Bernhard Samuelson ought probably to have been sent to the Royal Agricultural Society [not attached], but as Rix is not quite clear about the point, he thinks it better to send them to Evans, to whom they are addressed. |
