TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Michael Foster
Date5 November 1887
DescriptionFoster will have to close the B part of the 'Philosophical Transactions [of the Royal Society]' with Gotch's paper. The part already runs to 537 pages and 31 plates which is much larger than average and quite as big as the 1882 part three, which is the biggest the Society has published for some years and contained 430 pages and 46 plates. Rix lists the papers remaining over. He explains why they should close the volume and part with Gotch and begin the 1888 volume with Horsley & [Sharpey-]Schafer. Rix asks to know at once if this suggestion is adopted as he cannot number Horsley and Schafer's plates until he knows the plan. There is enough of 'A' to form a part also.
