TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor Michael Foster
Date30 July 1895
DescriptionMacbride stands thus; it was referred to Professor [Edwin Ray] Lankester as third referee on 18th June. Lankester sent no written report but Rix supposes he reported orally on 5th July. At that meeting it was agreed that the Committee of Papers recommends Council to grant ''Ed J Micros Science' £75 in aid of publication of Macbride's paper and this was adopted by Council on the same day.

According to statute this does not leave the Society at liberty to hand the paper to Professor Lankester. The paper has not yet been voted upon at all and the only legal way to proceed will be to vote it for Archives and then let Lankester take a copy. Outlines the conditions under which Lankester could be lent the paper.
