| Description | Thanks Foster for his note from the Great Eastern Hotel and telegram received this morning. Rix does not think Foster need come to town if he will mark the inclosed agenda list indicating which items are to be taken on the 17th [Council] and in what order [not attached]. Asks for this to be returned without fail as he has no copy.
Next Thursday is the usual date for holding the Dinner Committee. If Foster intends giving the usual six weeks notice, the list ought to be settled without delay.
Supposes the Assistant Secretary Appointment Committee should meet shortly to settle the form of advertisement.
Asks what Foster advises regarding Medal claims. These must now be circulated with summonses for the 31st. Rix has all the claims except Professor [Edwin Ray] Lankester's claim on behalf of Dr [John] Murray.
Neither the President [Lord Kelvin, William Thomson] or Lord Rayleigh [John WIlliam Strutt] will be present on the 17th. Asks if Foster will hold a Committee of Papers for the Biological part.
Rix is thinking of going to the country directly after the Saturday morning post so Foster should give him notice if he is thinking of coming to town. |
