TitleCopy letter from Michael Foster, to Dr J L E Dreyer, Director, The Observatory, Armagh
Date12 July 1898
DescriptionDreyer's letter of the 23rd November applying to the Royal Society to support a renewed application to the Government for a grant in aid of the Armagh Observatory, has received the careful consideration of the Council. The letter was referred by the Council to the Observatories Committee who reported upon it. Based upon this the Council do not feel justified in making an appeal to Government on behalf of the Observatory, more especially in view of the definite refusal last year by the Government of a similar application made to them directly by the Observatory.
