DescriptionIs directed by the President and Council of the Royal Society, in acknowledging Mowatt's letter of 3 July, to ask him to convey to the Lord Commissioners of Admiralty, their most grateful appreciation of the promise made that Her Majety's Government will ask Parliament for grants amounting to £45,000 in aid of the proposed Antarctic Expedition.

A copy of Moatt's letter has been sent to each of the signatories to the Memorial and will be laid before the Joint Antarctic Committee of the Royal Society and the Royal Geographical Society at an early date. Said Committee will undoubtedly take steps to ensure that the aid forthcoming from other sources shall equal the amount promised by Government. Trusts to be able to report within a short time that the sum has already been raised.
