TitleCopy letter from an unknown correspondent, to Alfred Bray Kempe, Treasurer, Royal Society
Date19 September 1900
DescriptionDiscusses placement of the new [electrical] Distribution Board.

The author has had all the pictures in the tea room and meeting room taken down for Sir William Abney's photographing, revealing the filthy walls. Thinks they ought to have something done about this before the pictures are re-hung. Queries if the tea room should be re-decorated or distempered. The former would cost £30 to £35 and take three weeks, the latter would cost no more than half that sum and take two weeks. As the meeting room is much darker and used much less, the author does not think the condition of the walls matters so much. If Kempe agrees to work being undertaken it is imperative no time is lost and Kempe should telegram in reply.
