Description | With reference to the relation between the British Academy and International Association of Academies [IAA], Sir Michael Foster, as Chairman of the International Council, has asked Harrison to make a suggestion. In the first intimation that the promoters of the British Academy gave of its inception, it wished to have its formation notified to the IAA with a view to its being recognized as a constituent Academy, but since its incorporation the Academy has not made any definite request to be admitted as a constituent of the IAA. Since by the statute of the IAA such admission must be proposed by one of the existing constituent Academies, Foster thinks it would be well to have a formal request from the Academy as an incorporated body, which can then then by a two-thirds majority admit it. |
