Title | Copy letter from Joseph Larmor, to Professor George Hartley Bryan, Fellow of the Royal Society |
Date | 18 July 1903 |
Description | The referees advise that although Bryan's memoir is interesting and valuable as regards results the mathematics is written out in so lengthy a manner that they cannot recommend it for publication without condensation. If sufficiently condensed the referees think it would form a 'Proceedings [of the Royal Society]' paper as the hypotheses are mainly provisional. As the referees will not suggest the condensation, Larmor has been through the paper and cut out the more obvious redundancies, but hardly thinks enough to satisfy the Physics Committee. The Committee will consider the paper if Bryan will revise it in this sense and make it complete so as to avoid the 'future paper' which he 'threatens'. |
