| Description | In answer to his note, Geikie is sending Lankester an extract from the minutes of Council, from which he will be able to see that the consent of the Treasury has been obtained to a much freer use of the Government Grant. It can now be drawn upon not just for research, but for the costs of printing and office expenses. It was impossible to extract any more money from the Treasury, and this method was the only was to escape from financial constraints.
Lankester will see that the total sums expended up to date on the Sleeping Sickness research, the only sum granted by the Council of the Tropical Diseases Committee and not yet drawn, is £50 voted for Nabarro's proposed Streptococcus investigation, over which there was some disagreement. Presumes £10 should be at the disposal of Lankester's Committee. |
