| Description | In reply to Frunivall's letter of the previous day, there is no term of years prescribed by Statute or Resolution for the tenure of office by the President of the Royal Society, but there has been for some years now a tacit understanding that a new President shall be chosen every five years. Technically the election is annual, all the Officers of the Society being elected or re-elected every year at the Anniversary. The question as to the grounds upon which the President is chosen is a more delicate one in which he does not feel justified in giving his opinion. |
