TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Joseph Ernest Petavel, University, Manchester
Date26 January 1906
DescriptionHarrison acknowledges Petavel's letter to the Clerk of the Government Grant Committee with a receipted account for four blocks made by the Northern Photo Engraving Company, which has been forwarded to Harrison.

After consultation with the principal secretaries of the Royal Society, he states that they cannot recognise the claim for reimbursement due to the circumstance under which the expense was incurred; namely, that they were made without consultation and were to replace blocks made at the Society's instruction for his paper appearing in Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, but which Petavel was unsatisfied with. Any application for better and larger illustrations should have been made when proof illustrations were first sent to him, but Harrison is informed that Petavel simply stated he had new blocks made which he hoped the Society would use.
