Description | The report of actions by the Government of India 'R. & S. 3268' in their letter of 29 December 1905, regarding previous recommendations on meteorology, has been considered by the Observatories Committee of the Royal Society. They have directed Larmor and Geikie to express their satisfaction with the transmission of results to British observatories, aiding their discussion of solar phenomena. Progress is being made by the Astronomer Royal and Sir Norman Lockyer to effect an exchange with the Indian observatories.
The Committee propose corresponding with G T Walker directly regarding magnetic reductions at the Colaba Observatory. They also are pleased with the work of the Poona Observatories following the staff being 'put on a definite basis'. In response to the three bulletins from Kodaikanalm the committee proposed Mr Walker make small changes to ensure the information is more available for use. The adoption of uniform standard time in India has also met with approval.
The delay in their response resulted from the letter having been received during the Society's summer vacation. |
