TitleCopy letter from Archibald Geikie, to Commander Ernest Henry Shackleton
Date30 July 1907
DescriptionIn reply to Shackleton's letter of the previous day. It is absolutely impossible at such short notice to obtain the authority to present Shackleton's Expedition with a complete set of the 'Challenger' Reports, but in accordance with an arrangement made with His Majesty's Treasury, he has requested the Stationary Office to send him the following: Deep Sea Deposits; Botany, volume one; Zoology volumes three, four, seven, eight, and ten to 32 inclusive; the Summary of Scientific Results Part LXXXIII. Apologizes that it is not in his power to do more and had the request been received even a week earlier it might have been possible to obtain authority to present a full set.
