Description'Your request for the loan of the Gilbert White letters was laid before the Council yesterday and I regret to say that they could not see their way to sanction the loan of the MSS as being against their policy in these matters. But they instructed me to say that your Society are at liberty to make copies - facsimile or otherwise - of the letter if you like to have them.'
