TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison to Dr P E Shaw, University College, Nottingham
Date26 February 1912
Description'In answer to your enquiry concerning illustrations accompanying Papers sent to the Royal Society, I enclose for your information the printed notice which appears on each number of the Proceedings.
The main point is that drawing should be neatly finished so as to be ready for direct photographic reproduction. Lettering may however be left in pencil, to be filled in by the engraver, this being usually the more satisfactory plan. In the case of curved diagrams on squared paper, the paper used should have the squares on a blue shade, not a brown or red shade.
This information may perhaps suffice for your purpose.'
