TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison to the Under Secretary of State for India, Revenue Department
Date4 January 1913
Description'With further reference to your letter (r&S 4224) of December 31 on the subject of the vacant appointment of third Scientific Assistant in the Simla Office of the Indian Meteorological Department, I am directed to express the regret of the Royal Society at the continued ill-health of Mr Field, and to say that the Observatories Committee of the Society will give their immediate attention to the matter without further delay, inasmuch as they feel that correspondence with Mr Field without his personal attendance and assistance would not serve a useful purpose.
It is possible that the Committee may find it necessary to advertise for candidates, and for that eventuality I am to ask if you would be good enough to furnish me with a short statement of particulars of the appointment such as might be suitable for publication in the scientific papers.'
