Description | Expresses gratitude on behalf of the Royal Society for the reception and hospitality given to Dr Crommelin and Mr Davidson for the Eclipse Expedition organised jointly between the Royal Society and the Royal Astronomical Society that took place 29 May, 1919. He specifies the assistance given by Dr Morize, Director of the Rio Observatory after the team landed at Camocin, and the Prefect of Sobral, Dr Jacome de Oliveira, Dr Leocadia d'Aranjo who acted as interpreter and 'threw himself heart and soul into the work of the Expedition.' 'The results obtained by the Expedition surpassed in importance those obtained by any expedition in the history of Astronomy.' |
