Title | Copy letter from James Hopwood Jeans, Secretary of the Royal Society; [Robert John Strutt] Lord Rayleigh |
Date | 13 June 1924 |
Description | Updates Robert John Strutt on 3 papers. 1: That after much delay, Lindemann has finally reported on the papers 'Chemical studies in gaseous ionisation' parts I and II by R.W. Lunt. Lindemann states some comments, mainly of the suggestion that both parts should be condensed into one paper and published in Translations, rather than 2 parts, both to be published in Proceedings. Asks for Strutt's opinion. 2: That Lindemann has reported favourably on the paper 'The indirect measurement of the aqueous vapour-pressure of capillary systems by the freezing-point depression of benzene', by E. M. Crowther and A. N. Puri. Suggests the paper be published in Series B of Proceedings. Jeans agrees with [William Bate] Hardy's suggestion to print it in both Series A and B and asks for Strutt's opinion. Asks if Strutt can look through the paper 'The colours due to thin films on metals' by U.R.Evans and communicated by C. T. Heycock. Suggest the paper be reported on as Haycock is' too generous in his view if what constitutes good work.' |
