Title | Letter from J Leon Williams, on his paper 'On the formation and structure of dental enamel' to the Secretary of the Royal Society |
Date | 25 February 1896 |
Description | He is disappointed that the Royal Society is only willing to spend £20 on illustrating his paper. He will confer with the council, but believes cutting some illustrations out of the paper will results in a inadequate presentation of the paper. He had hoped that 'a paper which clears up a number of problems that have baffled the greatest anatomists of the century would be more generously presented to the scientific world by the Royal Society'. The delay in the publishing process is giving him 'considerable anxiety'. An American scientific journal had agreed to defer publication of the paper to allow the Royal Society to publish it, but they 'very kindly' are willing to spend around £200 on illustrations. They cannot delay the publication any further.
