Title | Referee's report by Andrew Russell Forsyth, on a paper 'Contributions to the theory of simultaneous partial differential equations' by Alfred Cardew Dixon |
Date | 6 January 1899 |
Description | Not recommended for publication in the 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society'. Finds the author unfamiliar with the work of others on the same subject. Refers to work of Hamburger [?], Sofia Vasilyevna Kovalevskaya, Gyula Konig, Leo Königsberger, Carlo Bourlet, Charles Edmond Alfred Riquier and Friedrich Engel, to whose work the author makes no reference. Some of the explanations are much too brief. Finds some mistakes in some of the calculations. Suggests returning the paper to the author for careful revision.
