Title | Referee's report by George Carey Foster, on a paper 'Certain new methods of investigating the nature & effects of musical sounds' by Walter H Thelwall |
Date | 8 January 1900 |
Description | Sectional commitee: [Physics and chemistry]
Not recommended for publication. Of investigation as understood in science, the paper contains nothing at all. It is entirely concerned with the well know facts and whatever interest or importance it may possess seems to turn upon the question of whether musicians would recognise that the author's proposed system of notation and nomenclature offers sufficient advantage to induce them to preferentially adopt it. This is very unlikely. The paper would be entirely out of place among the publications of the Royal Society.
