Title | Letter from Walter Noel Hartley, on a paper 'Notes on quantitative spectra of beryllium' by Walter Noel Hartley to Robert Frederick William Harrison, Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society |
Date | 22 November 1901 |
Description | Sectional committee: not stated
Regrets that it will scarcely be possible for him to visit London for some three months but it is probable that he may make the journey in February. With regards to the line about which a doubt has been expressed whether it really is beryllium, he can only to say that the material which was the subject of the author's experiments was prepared by Professor Emerson Reynolds and the purity of it is described in the 'Chemical News', 3 December 1880. The spectrum in its entirety as obtained from the action of the spark on the chloride was described in the 'Journal of the Chemical Society', June, 1883, but the correctness of the description has never been questioned before.
