Title | Referee's report by William Watson, on a paper 'Experimental researches on drawn steel. - Part I. The influence of changes of temperature on magnetism. Part II. Resistivity, elasticity and density, and the temperature coefficients of resistivity and elasticity' by J R Ashworth |
Date | February 1902 |
Description | Sectional Committee: Physics and Chemistry
Recommended for publication in Philosophical Transactions, in full, subject to possible shortening. Sections 13-17 of part I could be condensed. Some indication should be given of the accuracy of the various measurements, and thus the number of digits used to express the results should be justified, and he discusses an example of this. Some of the tables could be omitted if the curves are published. All the diagrams should be reproduced excepting number five, which is practically repeated in diagram four.
The paper (especially part I) is of great interest to those engaged in designing self-recording magnetic instruments. The attention of the author, in the case of printing the paper, might be called to the headings of the columns which are often very far from self explanatory, and often not explained in the text.
