Title | Referee's report by Arnold William Reinold, on a paper 'Electro-molecular wave' by Jagadis Chunder Bose |
Date | 23 April 1902 |
Description | Sectional Committee: not stated.
He returns Burch's report and letter. He agrees that the title of the paper is open to criticism and the modified title that the author proposes, 'On Electromotive wave in molecularly [or mechanically] disturbed metals immersed in Electrolyte', is not a great improvement. He thinks the author has proved that his results are not due to polarization. In reply to Burch's criticism, the author has found that zinc in zinc sulphate solution gives results of the same character as zinc.
Thinks the title of the paper suggested by Burch would be misleading as the observed effects are not due to torsion but to agitation of the particles produced by tapping or by to and fro twisting. Regarding some of Burch's other criticisms it must be remembered that the author is not English. An Englishman would have presented his results 'in a different manner'.
